Congratulations!
By purchasing the "Get Recruited 101" e-book you will have just taken the first step to taking control of the college recruiting process!
The strategies and resources that you will learn about and put to use from this guide will give YOU the edge in assisting you to make one
of the most important decisions in your life.
Most high school student-athletes and parents have very little, if any, knowledge on how the college recruiting process works.
It is extremely important for high school student-athletes and parents to understand that the high school athlete CAN"T WAIT for colleges
to contact the high school student-athlete. Most colleges may never find a talented high school athlete that could help their program and
may be deserving of an athletic scholarship unless the student-athlete contacts the college first. An organized approach must be used by
the high school student-athlete and parents to contact and gain the attention of the colleges.
The information and marketing strategies contained in "Get Recruited 101" can be applied to every sport for both males and females. This information can be used for NCAA Divisions 1, 1AA, 2, 3, and also for Junior Colleges and NAIA colleges.
Selecting the "RIGHT" college to attend may be one of the most important decisions a person will ever make. The knowledge and experiences gained during a person's college years may determine the course of their future and start them toward a successful career.
A student's chances for an enjoyable, rewarding, and successful college experience at the "right" college may depend on how thorough their research was and the process and strategy was in choosing the "right" college.
The challenge to select the "right" college is also increased when a high school student wants to select a college for academics and to participate in athletics.
"Get Recruited 101" provides the college bound student-athlete and parents with the information and strategies to assist in this very important decision. This information will help in getting noticed by college coaches.
"Get Recruited 101" will provide you with the information necessary to:
1. Increase your knowledge of the process to use in your college search.
2. Gain exposure to colleges.
3. Have your talent recognized.
4. Maximize your recruiting potential.
Don't wait until college coaches start contacting you. Colleges may never contact you. Many talented high school athletes go unnoticed by colleges every year.
Many high school student-athletes think that because no colleges or very few sent them letters or contacted them, then therefore they are not good enough to play in college. The real truth is most colleges don't know about you. There may be many reasons for this.
College coaches don't always find all the talented high school players who have an interest in playing sports in college. Every year many, many good high school athletes "fall through the cracks" and don't get recruited and they feel that NO college wants them and therefore their athletic career is over. In most situations it is because these athletes did not have the exposure to colleges. This doesn't have to happen to you.
In order for college coaches to recruit you, they need to know that you exist. Unless you are an "elite, Blue Chip" athlete, most colleges will never have heard of you. This doesn't mean that they won't become interested in you once they find out about you. You just need to have the right information and the strategies to know how to make that first all-important contact.
Even the "elite, Blue Chip" high school athletes may be severely limiting their college choices by just waiting for colleges to contact them. There will be MANY more colleges interested in these "Blue Chip" athletes IF the colleges know about them!
Many high school students are "late bloomers" and really never start developing their athletic ability skills until they are just finishing their high school years or even not until they are at the college level.
EVERY high school student athlete and their parent need to take control of the recruiting process and take an active role in contacting colleges.
You need to start marketing yourself to colleges.
Far too many times the high school student-athlete won't get the help they need from their high school coaches or guidance counselors to find the right college. Many times the guidance counselor and high school coach don't understand all of the details of the college recruiting process. Or it is also very possible that your counselor and coach just don't have the total amount of time that is necessary to provide all the help that you need.
Some high school coaches may be able to provide a great deal of help to their athletes. If your high school coach can walk you through each step of the complete college search, how to contact colleges and selection process consider yourself very lucky. Most high school coaches will provide limited help. High school coaches will usually help by responding only to colleges that CONTACT THEM FIRST.
Some high school coaches will write letters for their athletes and that will be about the extent of their help.
Most high school coaches have limited contacts with college coaches, limited knowledge about helping all athletes with the total search and contact process, and very limited time. High school coaches also have a full time teaching schedule and they may be coaching several other sports. Plus, they have their own families and other activities that require their time. The time that they have available to spend on doing ALL the steps that are necessary to help one particular student-athlete to find the best college is definitely very limited.
Usually high school coaches don't have the time necessary to spend on one particular high school student-athlete. The high school coach is a very special person and may be one of the most influential people that you will have in your entire life, but their time is very limited for the area of college selection and recruiting help. They are responsible for many areas of their sports program for many athletes, plus their teaching responsibilities, and family responsibility. For many high school coaches the one area that is neglected the most is helping the student-athlete get noticed and recruited by colleges.
And unfortunately, there may be some coaches that don't provide much help at all.
Some high school counselors may help, and some are just too busy to provide the help that each individual needs, and very few will help the student with athletic recruiting.
But in any situation if you would go to your high school coach or guidance counselor and ask them for help in a specific area most likely they will help. If you ask them for a letter of recommendation they will write one. If you visit your counselor and request specific academic information (GPA, class rank, test scores) or ask your coach for copies of game tapes, more than likely these people will provide you this help.
"Get Recruited 101" will detail for you all the steps that need to be done so that you can ask these individuals for specific help which 99% of them will provide.
Every year many talented high school athletes go unnoticed by college coaches and don't get recruited or receive athletic scholarships. As an example, look at professional football and basketball players. Look at all the professionals that came from smaller colleges. Why weren't these professional athletes recruited by the large Division 1 colleges?
Don't limit your choice of colleges to what schools contacted you. Most schools don't know about you. That is why this book will assist you in gaining exposure to college coaches.
"Get Recruited 101" will take you through the step by step process of what you need to do.
You can start making contacts with colleges as soon as you are competing on the varsity.
The purpose of this book is to assist the student-athlete and his or her parents with the information and strategies to identify colleges of interest to further their education and participate in college athletics, how to gain exposure to these colleges, and have the possibility of being considered for a scholarship.
Only the college coach can determine if they want you to be in their college program and offer you an athletic scholarship. But with these strategies of how to market yourself, you can be assured of at least being contacted, evaluated, and have the possibility of a scholarship or financial aid.
If you are Division 1 caliber player, you will learn how to maximize your college search, have more colleges know about you, and have an athletic scholarship pay for your college education.
If you're not Division 1 caliber, you will learn how you can still participate in college athletics and still have an outstanding college athletic career at a lower level (Division 1AA, 2, or 3) with scholarship potential or learn how to obtain information on financial aid.
Your ultimate goal is to choose the right college for YOU ! This decision should be based on your academic interests and on choosing the right college for your athletic skill level.
With the "Get Recruited 101" guide you CAN get started!
Start gaining the attention of college coaches. Have colleges get to know you, your talents, and your interest in their college.
The high school student-athlete needs to approach searching for the right college the same way that they would if they were searching for a summer job, a part-time job or how they will be searching for their career position after graduation. When searching for these jobs they contact the employer, in only very rare occasions will the employer be contacting them about a job. The approach you need to use in searching for the right college is very similar. You need to know how to contact the college coach.
College coaches don't know about ALL the top HS athletes in the country. They may have limited a limited budget to recruit all athletes, they may not be in the same area of the state or country where you are located, or they may be limited in the number of college coaches that actually travel to scout and visit with high school student-athletes.
Some of the smaller sports may only have a few coaches on their staffs. These staffs can't possibly know about all the talented, qualified athletes.
Some of the smaller colleges that give athletic scholarships may have very limited recruiting budgets. Some colleges may actively recruit only in certain areas of the country in certain states. Your state may not be one of the states that your choice of colleges recruits in. Therefore, these college coaches will not be able to travel as much to visit high school student-athletes that are interested in their program unless the high school student first contacts the college coaching staff. So you definitely need to know how to contact these colleges if you want them to recruit you.
Some colleges may only be able to actively scout high school athletes from their own state because of limited budgets. However, if a college knew that there was a qualified talented high school student-athlete interested in their college and athletic program the college coach may actively start recruiting this person. A scholarship opportunity may exist for the talented athlete.
Some colleges find out about athletes from the media: the TV and newspapers. If you have been receiving limited or no media coverage, how would you expect colleges to hear about you?
Look at the top college athletes in your sport. Why didn't they all go to the top 5 or 10 colleges in a particular sport? Why are there excellent athletes at smaller colleges?
Although some high school athletes may have dreamt about going to their favorite college it just may not happen. Some high school athletes may always have wanted to play center for Duke University or running back for Notre Dame but that may not be the best choice for their athletic skill level.
Some colleges may already enough players at the position you play already on their current roster and may need to be looking at recruiting and offering scholarships to other position players. Or some colleges may feel that you don't have the skills for their program. It is extremely important that you don't get discouraged but continue to search for the right college for you.
What you need is a well organized "Game Plan"; a Plan of Action to promote yourself to colleges.
"Get Recruited 101" will assist you in finding colleges that match your interest in academics, athletics, and other personal desires (location, size)
The student-athlete's chances of getting an athletic scholarship may depend on how many college coaches that they contact. This will give them the best possible opportunity to get noticed by colleges, be evaluated and have at least an opportunity for an athletic scholarship.
In summary, as a result of using the information in this book each student-athlete should be able to make the best choice for a quality education at the school best suited for each student-athletes academic and athletic abilities.
"Get Recruited 101" will provide the high school student-athlete and their parents a easy to follow, comprehensive step-by-step process to get noticed and get recruited by college coaches.
Student-Athletes, and their parents, should read this book thoroughly and follow the step-by-step process as detailed.
This information will provide the student-athlete will the information to market and take control of the recruiting process.
The student-athlete and parents should get started in thinking about and talking about colleges early. The SA may have an older brother or sister, relative, friend that is presently in college, the parents input if they attended college. Start asking questions about likes and dislikes, areas of the country where colleges are located, size of colleges, etc.
Start the process early. DON"T WAIT until you are in the middle of your senior year in high school year to start planning the selection process. If you are in this situation LET'S GET BUSY! It's not too late."
